Summer Starts with Savasana in the Sun

The weekend started off dry and sunny. This was a reprieve from the cold and rainy days that we experienced following up to the weekend.

After two months of online yoga via Zoom, the class I attended at Goodale Park was also a much needed change. I NEEDED to be in a space with other yogis. Ellen and Niecy from Zen Yoga created a safe space that allowed us all to practice together again. Thank you, Zen Yoga!

This experience today reminded me of our very first blog post. We were at Inniswood Metro Gardens and I noticed a flyer for yoga in the park. (The only reason I remember that is because I wrote about it!) I never did go back and take that class. Three years later, I accomplished yoga in the park!

Not only did I complete that class but this past year I have made yoga a weekly practice (not daily, yet!). Again, I praise Ellen from Zen Yoga for keeping me engaged. Her kind spirit, generosity and just plain “goofiness” keeps me coming back to the practice.

It’s funny how things change.

When we started this blog, Emma had just finished her first year of middle school. Now, she has graduated from 8th grade and will be entering high school in the Fall. She will be “entering” or becoming a freshman, but will she be “entering” the building? That is the question. Who knows what will happen with the re-opening of everything and COVID-19 still amongst us.

With the recent changes due to the pandemic, I’m not sure what our summer will be like or what I’ll blog about. Another big question, will Emma still write with me? As she gets older, she wants to spend more time with friends than dear old mom. That’s an expected change- one that I’m not completely ready for.

Whatever “we” do, I hope that you will follow along with us this summer. We love to read your comments.

Stay active. Stay connected with others. Stay safe.
