Joanie discovered her love for Ashtanga Yoga almost two decades ago, and never looked back. Somehow it seemed to be "setting her free." After six years of practice, Joanie completed a 200-hour TT program, then commenced to study with highly respected teachers in the U.S. and India, where she continues to learn today.

After many years of practice and teaching therapeutic, cathartic Ashtanga, her life has been enriched beyond belief… physically, mentally, and spiritually. To assist others in learning and to get to watch their best lives unfold is a gift beyond measure. Joanie believe that Ashtanga ‘yoga therapy’ can be approached and learned by all and will help as needed, every step of the way.

When not on the mat, Joanie can be found in her yard with critters, taking walks, contra dancing, cooking up a storm, learning/presenting Ayurveda and other yogic practices, eating at Dosa corner, going to Farmer’s Markets and more…

I took my first yoga class more than 15 years ago. Since then yoga has become my versatile fitness companion, granting me strength, equilibrium and a blissful post-run stretch. It's the compass that guides me to center and serenity in a hectic world.

Years of practice paved the way for my journey into yoga teacher training. I landed at Zen Yoga Studio in Clintonville, Ohio. A journey I was taking to deepen my own practice with no intention of ever becoming a yoga instructor. However, my path took a different turn when I realized guiding students to find their own calm was something I found truly rewarding. Helping others to find tranquility within their minds and strength within their bodies fulfills my desire to guide others on a path towards healthy living.

Teaching brings its own rewards – a variety of students and fellow instructors who continually enlighten me about both myself and the art of yoga. I am so grateful to both my personal yoga guides and my students who allow me to achieve my goal as an instructor. My goal is to leave my students feeling strong, balanced and energized!
